Columbia, SC & Charlotte, NC — Attorneys with Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP and economic development professionals with Parker Poe Consulting worked with United Phosphorus Inc. (UPI) to finalize plans for a new crop protection products operation in Williamsburg County, SC.
The investment of more than $20 million will result in 65 new jobs over the next several years. An existing 520,000 square-foot building on 60 acres in Kingstree, SC will be renovated to create UPI’s first full production facility in the United States.
UPI, a producer of crop protection products and specialty chemicals, is based in King of Prussia, PA., and is part of UPL Limited, based in Mumbai, India. UPI is a provider of crop protection and seeds to customers in more than 123 countries.
“This is an exciting milestone for our company. We expect to begin accepting applications for our new facility in the fourth quarter of this year to employ people and we are enhancing our product development pipeline with 12 new products over the next 18 months,” said UPI Executive Vicente Gongora.
