Richard Few helps real estate developers, manufacturers, and other clients unlock the full potential of federal, state, and local tax credits and incentives. He has decades of experience — first as a lawyer and now as a consultant — advising clients on their tax and investment needs in order to move projects forward and maximize the return on their investments.
Richard guides clients through qualifying for, obtaining, and complying with an array of credits and incentives in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. He has particularly deep experience with various property rehabilitation credits, including federal and state historic rehabilitation tax credits, textile mill credits, and abandoned building credits. Clients appreciate how Richard can walk them through the options, financials, and tradeoffs when considering new development versus redevelopment. He works closely with Parker Poe Consulting’s Location Solutions Team and the Parker Poe law firm to integrate tax credit opportunities into broader site evaluations, helping clients identify the most advantageous locations and investments based on their business goals.
Richard also works closely with his former colleagues within the Parker Poe law firm to help clients with the legal needs related to tax credit projects. Before retiring from the law firm in 2025, Richard served in leadership roles for the firm's Greenville office. His legal practice included strategic tax planning and structuring business mergers, sales, acquisitions and reorganizations, economic development, and commercial and public financings for U.S. and international businesses. In addition, he was involved in transactions providing economic incentives to businesses relocating or expanding in South Carolina and in transactions providing income or other tax credits for development of real estate projects.
